A lathe machine is a machine tool that is used to remove or peel metals from a rough workpiece to give a required shape and size.Lathe Machines are used for operations in metalworking, wood turning, metal spinning for making utensils,glass working, and small parts making.The other operations thatoperator can perform with the help of Lathe Machine is include sanding, cutting, knurling, drilling, and deformation of tools that
objects which have symmetry about the axis of rotation.
There are several components of a lathe machines , but most important Parts of Lathe with their function is as below. It is also known as the father of all machine tools.The function of Lathe is to remove the metal in the form of chips from a piece of work by mounting the same rigidly on a machine spindle and revolving at the required speed and
the cutting tool is fed against the work either longitudinally or crosswise to make the
work to the required shape and size.

  6. Cross-slide- fitted on saddle
  7. Compound rest- fitted on cross slide
  8. Toolpost- tool post fitted on cross slide
  9. Apron- fitted on bed ways where cross slide, coumpund rest, tools post fitted
  10. Lead Screw- fitted with gear box
  11. Feed rod- fitted with gear box
  12. Chuck- fitted on head stock to hold the job
  13. Main spindle- fitted inside the lathe machine
  14. Leg- complete bedways or headstock are parts fitted on Legs of lathe machine
